12th annual Homelessness Marathon Broadcast on Free Radio Santa Cruz Feb 23

The 12th annual Homelessness Marathon will originate from Pass Christian Mississippi,
Will be broadcast on Free Radio Santa Cruz 101fm http://www.freakradio.org starting at 4 pm, Monday February 23rd and ending 14 hours later, we will Break for News 5-6pm


The broadcast will be almost entirely live, and will be carried by more than 100 radio stations coast-to-coast. The first four hours of the broadcast will also be carried by Free Speech Television, channel 9415 on the Dish Network and by cable channels around the country.

"This will be the first national examination of the poverty, as opposed to just the debris, left behind in Katrina's wake," comments Jeremy Weir Alderson, the Homelessness Marathon's
director. "We will be gathering the poor and desperate people of the Gulf coast, so they can tell their stories directly to America.

Additionally, many experts who will also appear on the broadcast, including three national experts who will be flying to
Mississippi for the broadcast. These are Paul Boden, Director of the
Western Regional Advocacy Project; Cheri Honkala, Director of the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign; and Jeremy Rosen, Director of the National Policy and Advocacy Council on Homelessness.

Many organizations are supporting the broadcast, including
Alabama Arise, El Pueblo, Great Southern Humanist Society, Gulf Coast Veterans Advocacy Council, Hope Haven, Interdenominational Disaster Task Force, Katrina Relief, Mercy Housing, South Bay Community Alliance, and the Waveland Citizens Fund
