A Talk and Multimedia Presentation by Barbara Lubin, Founder of the Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA)
On January 21st, 2009, after waiting ten hours at the border between Egypt and Gaza, Barbara Lubin entered the Gaza Strip. Come join us to hear her story about what she saw.
"The destruction and trauma in the Gaza Strip is even greater that I expected," says Lubin. She saw bombed out homes and universities, overcrowded U.N. schools, and people were given just minutes to evacuate their homes.
Sabreen, a young woman from Rafah, told Lubin, "We are a strong people. No matter how many times Israel bombs us, we are not leaving."
With a brief introduction to the historical and geographical context of the current Gaza crisis by Sharat G. Lin.
===============================
Light refreshments will be served.
Free admission. Donations welcomed to cover expenses.
Free parking available at the City Hall Parking Garage after 6 pm, 50 North 4th Street (just north of Santa Clara Street), San Jose. Entrance also on North 5th Street.
Sponsored by Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA) and South Bay Mobilization (SBM).
Co-sponsored by SAMES (SJSU), MSA (SJSU), and San José Peace and Justice Center.
