We will start the day with a March across the Golden Gate Bridge at noon; then we have scheduled a Potluck and Program at Redwood Gardens in Berkeley from 4-8pm.
Our focus continues to be END WAR NOW - and this International Women’s Day, we are focusing on the women of Afghanistan and the threat to send more of our troops to occupy that country. One of our overriding goals: "Yes We CAN Help Obama CHANGE Direction: from Iraq to the U.S.A., NOT Afghanistan".
We will have presentations, music, culture by and about Afghan women, and especially the women of RAWA. We honor their courageous work and stand in solidarity with RAWA (Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan), who list the following for March 8th:
• For us, the 8th March means the day to express horrifying miseries and the burning pains our women are passing through and the exposure of the criminals responsible for this catastrophe.
• For us, the 8th March means the day to covenant upon the blood of the martyred women who lost their lives for the cause of freedom, women’s rights and human dignity.
• For us the 8th March means the day of solidarity and standing up against fundamentalism of any kind either Jehadi or Taliban.
We are also planning to launch our "30,000 Hot Pink Bikes - not Soldiers - to Afghanistan: a Woman-to-Woman, Girl-to-Girl" Endeavor on International Women's Day.
BRING A DISH TO SHARE - your favorite something from your (great) grandmother's cuisine!
Please email or call 510-540-7007 if you need more information and to RSVP
