Calling All Women Warriors - International Women's Day in the Bay - 2009

March 8th is International Women’s Day. It is a day to express ourselves, celebrate, mourn and re-/commit to action on behalf of all women, throughout space and time.

2009 is no different... On the contrary…

In the Bay Area alone, hundreds of women from all backgrounds have been stepping up and onto the stage of history, playing key roles in struggles in Gaza, Oakland and all over the world.

March 8th is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate our WHOLE selves, as sisters, partners, mothers and daughters. As friends, co-workers and comrades. As leaders and supporters, outreach experts, and folks who just get things done.

If anyone in the world has the mad skills to make sh*t fly in a flash – on a shoestring budget, with barely a pot to piss in – it’s women… And now we’ve got some crazy technology to support our efforts? Oh Pleez!!!

We have about 20 days to cook up a sweet, spicy, sweaty event – perhaps starting at Fruitvale BART – but all the way open to suggestions…
