Obama Promised Equality!
First in a series of postings about the city of San Jose's participation in a National Day of Action for LBGTQI equality. Nationally the theme was reminding Obama of his campaign promises to our community. Locally we added additional emphasis on the elimination of hate crimes against LGBTQI persons, making our rally a fundraiser for the recent victim of a brutal hate crime in Richmond, CA, and calling on Obama to enact the Matthew Shephard Act.

LBGTQI... I'm sure I know what the L, B, G, T stand for. I have a good guess for the Q. My friends and I are placing bets on what the I stands for. Anyone want to comment and answer this question?
Intersexed, formerly known as hermaphrodites.
from the/an Intersex FAQ:
Technically, intersex is defined as "congenital anomaly of the reproductive and sexual system." Intersex people are born with external genitalia, internal reproductive organs, and/or endocrine system that are different from most other people. There is no single "intersex body"; it encompasses a wide variety of conditions that do not have anything in common except that they are deemed "abnormal" by the society. What makes intersex people similar is their experiences of medicalization, not biology.
