This past year, Senate Bill 840, the California Universal Healthcare Act, passed in both the California Assembly and Senate. Forty-nine of the 120 legislators in Sacramento co-authored the bill, but Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed it, denying Californians a chance to spend our resources wisely for comprehensive healthcare.

In 2009, State Senator Mark Leno will be the new principal author of SB 840, leading millions of Californians in the direction of high quality, affordable, accessible and cost-saving healthcare. He brings the vision that SB 840 will inevitably face a ballot battle and that a grassroots campaign must be prepared.

Please attend our forum and potluck on December 14 and learn how you can help support the campaign for universal healthcare.
