KZYX Radio Features Great Interview About Opposition to MPLA Green Washing

by Dan Bacher
This is an hour of very unique radio about the impact of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's fast tracking of the MLPA process on sustainable seaweed harvesting and fishing communities in Mendocino County.
Jim Martin, West Coast Regional Director of the Recreational Fishing Alliance, and John Lewellan, longtime environmentalist and seaweed harvester, are interviewed on the "Toxic Trespass" ecology show regarding the impact of the privately-funded MLPA proposals to the sustainable fishing and seaweed harvesting communities of Mendocino County. This interview was done last night on KZYX 90.7 FM, the local community supported radio station in Philo. The station's signal reaches an audience in Humboldt, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties.

When elitist, corporate-funded pseudo-environmentalists try to shut down sustainable fishing and seaweed harvesting in key locations in Mendocino County, they're going to face a united front of local grass roots environmentalists and fishermen opposed to the Governor's fast tracking of the MLPA process without regard to its impact upon local communities.

I greatly applaud Jim Martin and John Lewellan's efforts to raise local environmental opposition to the corrupt, racist and elitist MPLA process. The Marine Protected Areas will greatly impact local members of Indian Tribes that have harvested seaweed for thousands of years.
