On the night of December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, bone-weary after a long day's work as a seamstress at an Alabama department store, refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man--and was promptly arrested. Thus were the wheels set in motion for the first major Civil Rights demonstration of the 1950s. Celebrate this history-making event on its actual 53rd anniversary!
