A Sacramento Tradition: Candlelight Vigil for Peace and Justice
Candles will glow on the corner of 16th and J streets in Sacramento for the 26th annual Candlelight Vigil for Peace and Justice from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9. The annual event commemorates International Human Rights Day, officially Dec.10.
Rain or shine, the vigil will go on, so participants should be prepared, including bringing wind-proof candles or flashlights and signs to withstand rain. Afterwards, vigilers will gather at Luna’s Café, 1414 16th St. (delicious vegetarian dishes are available).
The co-sponsors are Sacramento Area Peace Action, Sacramento Valley Chapter of Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Grandmothers for Peace International, Central America Action Committee, Sacramento Physicians for Social Responsibility and Teach Peace Foundation.
