In 1993 the UN staged national elections to select a democratic government that would remake itself into a prosperous and thriving country after the horrors of the Khmer Rouge. However, the Cambodian government squandered this treasured opportunity – and is well on the way to destroying the nation it was supposed to save. Expert journalist covering the fall of Pol Pot’s regime and the resulting refugee crisis, Joel Brinkley will discuss Cambodia today and the progress it has or has not made at this FREE event.
