No on Prop 8 Peaceful Rally
Date:
Sunday, October 26, 2008
Time:
2:00 PM
-
5:00 PM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Carries Peterson
Location Details:
Hamilton Avenue (@ Almarida). Please park in front of Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Please join us on Sunday from 2-5pm, for a peaceful No on 8 rally. Last Sunday we had 15 volunteers, and just a few miles away, the Yes on 8 rally had 1,000+, stretching over 1.5 miles. We need your help to show CA voters that we won't stand for discrimination.
Invite your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors!
What to Bring:
- Please bring your own signs. We encourage you to make impactful signs. Last week we had straight and Mormon volunteers, which was awesome!
- We will bring water, but you may want to bring some extra drinks/food.
Sign Ideas:
We encourage you to make whatever sign is most meaningful to you. If you are straight, religious, etc - that definitely can help. Some sign ideas:
- Protect Marriage = No on 8
- Protect Families = No on 8
- Strengthen Families = No on 8
- Freedom of Religion = No on 8
- Mormon/Asian/Evangelical & No on 8
- Straight & Voting No on 8
Directions:
- Take 280 South, then 17 South
- Hamilton Ave exit, go RIGHT onto Hamilton
- Take your first right @ Almarida, and park in the BB & Beyond parking lot
- We will congregate on street corners on Hamilton, in that area. (You'll see us!)
- IF there are Yes on 8 rallies happening there, we may move a block or two down the road. We will make sure it's visible.
More info:
Current polling shows 48% in favor of Prop 8, and 45% against it. Given the margin of error, this is a DEAD HEAT race. There are thousands of anti-gay activists in Utah calling CA voters around the clock, moving undecided voters to their side. We must stop this.
Yes on 8 is running very deceptive ads on TV, making false claims about education, and churches losing tax exempt status. This is all false.
More Ways to Get Involved:
1) Volunteer at your local No on 8 office.
SF/Berkeley = 415-252-8132
San Jose = 408-453-4592
2) Donate to http://www.noonprop8.com
We hope to see you on Sunday. Strength in numbers! Let's make a statement. Thank you everyone for your support.
