Defeat Prop 6: Mobilization Day

Join Just Cause Oakland in contacting voters in East and West Oakland to vote to defeat Prop 6.

Prop 6 is a statewide ballot measure that would significantly increase funding for the operation of prisons and the parole system, increase sentencing penalties for a range of crimes, eliminate bail for undocumented immigrants charged with violent or gang-related felonies, and directly affect housing rights of public housing residents, by requiring that Oakland Housing Authority do at least one criminal background check a year for all tenants. These criminal checks will then allow the Oakland Housing Authority to evict tenants and their family members who are found to have some type of criminal record.

Just Cause stands against any policies that attempt to further criminalize working class people and communities of color and which prioritizes increasing funding for policing programs without addressing the root causes of violence and crime.
