Hello there,
Some of you may have seen us at Street Salon October 3 taking loan applications for The People's Bank. To those of you who participated, thank you. To those of you who weren't able to attend, we've made an easy ONLINE LOAN APPLICATION. Go to our website, http://www.a4ds.org, and go to "The People's Bank" section. Click on the PDF link where it says "fill out an online application" and download the PDF. Fill out the form and click the submit button, which will email it back to us. You will receive a printable check which you can then print out at home after your loan has been approved.

NEW FEATURES ON THE WEBSITE, NEW PRODUCTS IN OUR ETSY STORE
Besides the People's Bank page, check out the manifesto section of our website as well, where we've uploaded at least a dozen new manifestos! You can also see new pics and information on our Art Election page. The buttons we've made for The People's Bank, as well as our new Oakland Radicals button, are now in our Etsy store, and they're only a dollar - get 'em while your dollar is still worth something!

CALL TO ACTION
Sunday and Monday October 19 and 20 the Mortgage Bankers Association will be having its annual conference at Moscone Center West in San Francisco. Chairmen of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be speaking. Numerous groups including ANSWER, Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink, and the Peace and Freedom Party have called a protest for 3:00-5:00 PM on Sunday and 8:30-10:30 AM on Monday. Here's a link for more info:

The People's Bank will be on hand for the Monday protest taking loan applications and writing bad checks. We could use your help and participation. We would love to have a presence at the Sunday protest as well, but Steve works on Sunday. If we get at least ONE VOLUNTEER willing to help run the People's Bank on Sunday, we can do both days. Please email back ASAP if you can help out! No previous banking experience necessary, only requirement is business attire.

NANCY PELOSI'S OFFICE
As you probably already know, our very own Rep. Pelosi was instrumental in coralling votes for the 700 billion dollar giveaway. We think she should hear just what her constituents have to say about it! After the Monday protest, we will be meeting in front of Nancy Pelosi's office at the Burton Federal Building at 11:30 AM. We will present our bad loans and ask for a bailout, then ask her to sign an oversized check made out to "The People" in the amount of $700 billion. While it's unlikely that she'll actually come out to meet us, we are likely to at least cause a scene, perhaps chant a little bit in the lobby (we've been working on some wicked economic protest chants). Please come in business attire (if you can) as you will be representing the People's Bank. Email us if you can attend.

IN DESPERATE NEED OF VIDEO CAMERA
While it's all fine and good to do these things, it's even better to videotape them and put them on YouTube! We feel strongly that videotaping both of the People's Bank actions and putting them on the internet could help raise awareness of alternatives to this b.s. bailout. We, however, don't have a camera. If you have access to a camera and/or can tape these actions, please please email us ASAP!

Thanks, and stay sane in these troubling times,
Celeste and Steve
