RADICAL DISSENT: The righteous response to an unjust system

A respected 68-year-old criminal defense attorney, Ms. Steward is fighting a 28-month sentence for "providing support for terrorism." She is visiting the Bay Area from NY City to present this keynote address to the Radical Women National Conference.

Stewart was convicted in 2995 for releasing a press statement from an imprisoned client, Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman. Even the judge who sentenced her commended Stewart for "representing the poor, the disadvantaged and the unpopular" with "enormous skill and dedication." Stewart has taken on many highly charged cases, including defense of members of the Black Panthers, the Weather Underground, and the Black Liberation Army.
