Speaker Kathy Kelly is a founder of Voices in the Wilderness, which has provided humanitarian aid to Iraq victims of U.S. aggression, for which the U.S. government moved against them legally and financially. She has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work.
Kathy co-founded and leads Voices for Creative Nonviolence (vcnv.org), which works with Iraqis --- both within and outside Iraq --- to promote reconciliation and alternatives to violent dispute resolution. For five months last year, she lived among and worked with Iraqi refugees in Amman, Jordan. During that time, she also met with leaders of the Iraq Federation of Oil Unions and General Federation of Workers’ Councils & Unions in Iraq.
Reflecting on her participation in a peace walk from Chicago to the RNC in St. Paul, kathy will talk about “war and memory,” drawing parallels with collective resistance to other wars, and reminding us of our connections across regions, national boundaries, and generations.
$5 - $15 (sliding scale) donation requested but no one turned away for lack of funds.
