Benefit for Just Cause Oakland and the campaign to save the California Hotel- low income housing.
This Thursday the Ships in the Night crew is throwing down for residents of the California Hotel.
California Hotel has been a stronghold of low income/public housing in Oakland for many years.
So when the tenants received notice that the building was to be shut down and that their management company was abandoning them in early July, their response was "WE WILL NOT BE MOVED!"
California Hotel Residents have been running the building themselves now for 3 Months! And they recently organized into a formal tenants association.
This building is one of several slated to be shutdown in the coming months. But other residents are following suit w/ the California. The Hotel has set a standard in the fight to keep all these buildings open.
SO LET’S SHOW SOME SUPPORT!
These folks have bills to pay and need all the support they can get to keep the doors open!
Come through this thursday, throw down & a bust a move for the struggle against gentrification and displacement in Oakland.
