Massive Takedown of Anti-Scientology Videos on YouTube

I know it's not "hip" to say this, but y'know, YouTube IS filled with videos that don't belong to the people who posted them, they belong to the people who MADE them and/or legally OWN them. There seems to be a growing belief among internet-addicts that anyone is allowed to post anything anywhere, intellectual property rights and copyright be damned.

I hate to say it, but even the wacky video of Tom Cruise going 'zoosh' and 'pffffft' and "whoomp' that started all this, belongs to the Church of Scientology and they DO have a right to demand it be taken down. It's THEIR video. It's THEIR property. Like it or not, people do NOT have some sort of God-given inherent right to post something that doesn't belong to them.

People are just going to have to generate their own original content in the fight against Scientology, rather than skeetch copyrighted material from news sources and from Scientology. Then there's, theoretically, no basis for anyone to demand their removal.

But most of what was taken down had no scientology copyright. This so called church has a long dark history of doing this kind of thing. But this was just one member of scientology behind this. His name is Oliver Schaper and a quick google of his name shows he owns quite a few gay porn sites. Google the name Jimbo and does scientology approve of its members promoting gay and teen porn?

Would that be just like how John McCain's use of Jackson Browne (Running on Empty) and Heart (Barracuda) music during the campaign was illegal? Both artists have complained but the strongest supporters of copywrite laws and private property had no problem stealing that type of intellectual property to promote their agenda....

In the case of Scientology, a video showing abuse of lies is much more likely to satisfy the definition of fair use than using music without asking when someone is walking up to a stage at a public event.

It won't work, ladies and degenerates. Ways will be found to continue the spreading of the noble truth. There are teams of people who constantly monitor and download the essential information to keep the public informed of the base motivations of an evil group. It cannot be stopped. Ditch your führer and save yourself. Every scientologist remaining under the banner of corruption will pay the price for their allegiance. You are all responsible, because you have all accepted the leadership of a sociopath. You will eventually have to prove that you 'did not know'.

Your organisation will never achieve it's desired place in the realm of the norm. It's corruption is detailed and verifiable and all that has to be done by those railed against you is to maintain the patience and energy to expose it to those who can't yet believe such nefarious conduct be possible in this age.

Jerald, you don't have to tell me about xenu.net. I've been opposing Scientology since before you were probably even born.

However, I'm not going to suspend my belief in the importance of protecting intellectual property in the process. Television news footage is NOT public domain, and just because Scientology is bad doesn't make appropriating their materials "fair use".

I always try to put the xenu links in Jimbo for those new readers who have not seen the site yet. I agree with you about copyright . I have also seen " fair use" pushed past the legal limit. But copyright has nothing to do with this case. The person who filed all the complaints doesn't own any of the copyrights in question and had no standing to remove the video's.

Jimbo, you obviously do not know much about the 4000+ fraudulent claims lodged to youtube by 'American Rights Councel' (ARC!!). A massive amount of clips were taken down under false pretenses. How can ARC claim infringement of original content?

This latest attempt by the cult of scientology was just another example of what Cruise said in the leaked video. What was that that Tom said in one clip? "We dont need permission". For someone that says they've been criticizing the cult for more years than Jerald has been alive, you surely don't know much about scientology at all.

Didn't see anything that "Scientology" was involved. That's what you like to believe, understandable, but where's the evidence?

If you look there are the same number of videos on YouTube dealing with Scientology. None of the accounts mentioned above have been suspended and none of the mentioned videos have been taken down.

Q: Was this an instance of a legitimate copyright holder protecting their own copyrighted material? A: NO. Many of the videos that were taken down consisted entirely of content generated by the submitter. Obviously, all copyright in those videos belonged entirely to the submitter; obviously, anyone (such as the "American Rights Counsel LLC", which does not appear to even be a legal entity in the United States) who claimed to be the copyright holder or even acting on behalf of the copyright holder to take it down was illegally making false copyright claims to try and take people's own copyrighted material away from them. Q: Is there any evidence that this was done by Scientology, or on behalf of Scientology? A: There is a large amount of circumstantial evidence that this was done on behalf of Scientology. Every single video over which the "American Rights Council LLC" illegally claimed the necessary standing to issue a take-down notice was critical of Scientology. The use of an (imaginary) "front organization" in the fraud is directly from the playbook of L. Ron Hubbard, who specifically advised the use of such impostures in the many illegal tactics he advocated for dealing with what he called "the enemies of Scientology."

I hope everyone looks at the scientology link you posted. They I hope they visit xenu.net to see what the truth is. There they can fine hundreds of court and public records covering the dark side of scientology. They can visit xenutv.com to see new programs of scientology and public hearings about the evil action's of scientology.
They can also see many video's of the members of scientology in action. Yes, let them visit scientologymyths to see what you have to say and then let them see the truth for themselves when they see the records and video's.
