CONCERT FOR WORLD PEACE
Featuring Eddie Gale and his Inner Peace Orchestra
Saturday, Sept. 13, 7:00 p.m.
First Congregational Santa Cruz
http://www.fccsantacruz.org 831-426-2010
Once again, September 11 surprises us and unsettles us. How can we make our lives count? How can we acknowledge war, violence, poverty? How can we turn from such animosities and create peace that lasts?
This year, FCC hosts a remarkable concert to gather the wider community around our commitments to inner peace and world peace.
Join Eddie Gale and his Inner Peace Orchestra for the CONCERT FOR WORLD PEACE on Sat., Sept. 13, at 7 pm in the Sanctuary. A world renowned trumpeter, Eddie Gale has been named San Jose’s “Ambassador of Jazz” and the winner of the 2007 Jefferson Award for Public Service. A New York native, Eddie recorded in the 60s on the legendary Blue Note label with groundbreaking albums like Black Rhythm Happening and Ghetto Music. He’s played with jazz luminaries like John Coltrane, Sun Ra and others.
His orchestra’s amazing and together, they offer a vision and experience of joy and possibility.
Come on the 13th! Bring a small percussion instrument to join in on the finale theme: “I’m so Happy.” Non-perishable food items will also be accepted for the Second Harvest Food Bank in Santa Cruz.
Let’s gather in faith. Let’s dance for joy. Let’s be the change we wish to see in the world!
