Can there be a two-state solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict without the United States’ involvement? What lessons can be learned from past efforts to engage Israelis and Palestinians in the peace process? Based on confidential interviews in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East with 100-plus negotiators, political figures, and civil society leaders from all sides of the conflict, Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer and Middle East expert Scott Lasensky present a framework for US engagement in the peace process and lessons to guide the efforts.
