Additional Info
*The vision of this project is to create a space and performance that allows womyn of all colors, sexualities, abilities, cultures, and backgrounds to unite and collaborate, empowering one another toexpress ourselves through theatre, digital media, poetry, spoken word,
art, music, etc, and comment on where we stand in relation to current social and political events in the Bay Area.
The project is inspired by Adrienne Rich's book, On Lies, Secrets, and Silence. She talks about how remaining silent is a form of lying to oneself and to others because she is denying herself and others of that unspoken truth. She also goes on about how the most interesting things in life are what "the possibilities that exist between two people, or a mount a group of people," describing it as a "kind of
alchemy."
It is the project's belief that through constant learning through and of each other as humans and as individuals that we grow to become better people and strive for the betterment of humanity. We are vessels, full of knowledge through our own education and experiences (in and/or out of institutionalized education), and we must share in order to stay in touch with the current course of our times. Within this process, we will attempt to create a community, where we will support and help each other heal and grow into a better place with ourselves before this project. We will use our energies and talents to create political theatre voicing against injustices in the world.
