Peak Oil Town Hall Meetings
August 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20; 12noon and 7pm
The San Francisco Peak Oil Preparedness Task Force is committed to educating the people of San Francisco about oil depletion and how they can prepare. In fall of this year we will release our report and in the meantime there is lots of opportunity for people to move ahead.
So we have teamed up with the Presidio School of Management (home of a well-regarded sustainability MBA) to host a series of six town hall meetings this August. The town hall meetings are open to anyone but have been designed specially for the people of San Francisco.
The meetings will take place entirely online. You will need a computer connected to the Internet and a telephone that can call a conference call service (long distance will apply but is otherwise free). For inexpensive long distance calls, consider http://www.skype.com, http://www.jajah.com or http://www.gizmo.com.
We have designed these town hall meetings to address many of the most important areas that will be impacted by peak oil and extremely high oil prices.
Here are the topics and dates:
* August 4 - What's Happening With Oil?
* August 6 - Growing Food in an Urban Environment
* August 11 - Creating Communities and Local Economies
* August 13 - Transportation in a Post Peak World
* August 18 - Personal Preparation for Peak Oil
* August 20 - Keeping Healthy in a Post Peak World
Each meeting starts with a 20-25 minute presentation of the most important elements of each topic, then the meeting is opened up to questions. The presenter and other topic experts will be available to answer questions.
There are two meetings each day: one at 12pm and one at 7pm. The meetings are identical; you don't need to attend both of them for each topic. You can attend as many topics as you wish.
Please register for the meetings and times that work for your schedule by visiting our registration page: http://sfpeakoiltownhall.eventbrite.com
Thank you for your interest and we'll see you at the meetings!
