IRAQ: REVOLUTION AND COUNTERREVOLUTION
On July 14, 1958 a popular uprising in Iraq overthrew four decades of British colonial rule. Iraq went on to nationalize its vast oil wealth and become one of the most developed countries in the Middle East, providing free education and health care to its people and becoming a needed resource for the region. Join us to commemorate the Iraqi Revolution and learn about its accomplishments.
U.S. War and Occupation in the Middle East
The U.S. war machine is facing ever greater resistance from the Iraqi and Afghani people. Yet the warmakers continue to threaten Iran. Meanwhile, conditions for the Palestinian people are worsening conditions as the U.S.-supported Israeli government imposes an even tighter occupation. What can we do to end war and occupation?
Plus: Hear an eyewitness reportback from the recent "People's Summit" that took place in Japan to protest the G8 Summit.
