As reported in the Hamburg newspaper Morgenpost, on July 10th the Hamburg scientology building was vandalised and several windows smashed. Hamburg anonymous were not responsible, and have condemed these attacks. This is somewhat more sensitive in Germany as it will be viewed as being similar to kristallnacht. Despite this, the Hamburg raid did go ahead and was successful, although there was some serious harassment by the scientologists that resulted in them being removed by the police.

Two very important points raised in the discussion of this incident:

* Do not blame the cult for this - The cult makes unsubstantiated allegations, not us.
* Do not make the mistake of defending yourself against the allegation that Anonymous was responsible before it has been raised by someone else - You will look like you have a guilty conscience.

This type of action can have been done by scientologists themselves, Special services (OSA). Indeed, the crime cult wants to characterize ANY person or group criticizing it as crazy, criminal, and dangerous. That's "policy" since the 1950s.
Since the Anons have been particularly well disciplined since the very first picket against the cult, since the cult is unable to get somone really "criminally" investigated from the thousands of picketers, it had to find something.

Second possibility: an ex-scientologist has lost somebody or something or his money etc in the criminal cult. Then, he decided all of a sudden to get some revenge. That does not cost much to the immensely rich cult... some glasses, paid by their insurance company.

These two things are very important to understand. The message is clear: don't open your mouth unnecessarily.

If it was a critic of the cult responsible this would demonstrate the success of scientology's strategy in provoking anger in others. When someone behaves excessively they can be more easily discredited.
It's very important to keep our patience- whoever smashed those windows, or whoever gave the orders, lost it.

If scientology did it, a reasonable if not provable suspicion given their record, it can be seen as a clumsy form of defence- indicating desperation.

Anonymous are absolutely right in condemning the vandalism. I believe that they are telling the truth when they say they are not responsible. How can I feel so sure? Because I don't believe Anon, after grinding out the results so far in the fight against the cult's abuses and crimes, would be so stupid as to put their growing reputation for peaceful protest in danger.

There is no need to smash windows to bring down scientology. We have Hubbard and Miscavige on our side, our greatest assets. We only have to keep revealing their characters and abusive practices to the world. Patience, dogged endurance, discipline have greater power than a thrown brick. We must believe in ourselves and our united efforts in bringing this monster to it's knees.

The article says "Hamburg anonymous were not responsible" but how do we know this, other than just because they say so? Obviously, they're not going to ADMIT to an act like this - duh.

And by the way, it's spelled "condemn", not "condem".

Everytime I see the scientology cross, which is a crossed out Christian symbol copied from Aleister Crowley's tarot cards it drives me nuts. The word 'church' is a word belonging to Christianity and to no other religion. Synagogues are only Jewish; mosques are only Moslim; zendo's are only Zen Buddhist.

It makes me crazy to hear scientology being refered to as a religion when it's clear why Hubbard endeavoured to get it religious status. I've studied the TR's, Fair Game, Disconnection, Hubbards racist sexist and fascist ideas, the true role of the e-meter, the Bridge to Total Freedom. It's been going on for more than half a century. Warnings were there from the beginning- read Erich Fromm's 1950 review "Diantetics-For Seekers of Prefabricated Happiness".

One of the reasons I don't put through their windows is I don't want to risk my liberty. It'd be counterproductive - I do not want to give the cult what they want which is cause to raise their scream-"we are being persecuted by religious bigots". Isn't that damn rich from these people. Didn't Hubbard refer to Christ ON TAPE as a "...lover of young men and boys.." ?!! All philosphic and religious figures from the past were just implants devised by Lord Xenu the space tyrant.
Believing in such nonsense is one thing but spreading it is another- that's got to be stopped.

I want to see Miscavige, Moxon, Rinder, even though he's left, and all those savages in OSA behind bars and I want Cruise and his actor mates apologising to the world for their role in trying to cripple the planet. And I want to see it in my lifetime, so lets have nobody dragging their feet.

I agree with comment number one. This is more than likely to be an act cooked up by Scientology themselves. It is classic for them. One need only read what was done to Paulette Cooper, journalist, years ago, by Scientology, to understand that Scientology is capable of nearly ANYTHING.

I hope that David Miscavige is being watched carefully, because under pressure of a declining cult following, he could be nutz enough to do much worse than broken glass, in an effort to frame Anonymous as "terrorists," or Germans as Nazi-like. Scientology, as bogus as it is, has billions of dollars to stage elaborate schemes. They have a well-documented past for the extremes they will go, in an effort to attack critics, and create facades.

I am a Scientologist and obviously those who did this vandalic act were "anonymous" in the sense that they were not known.
How can reps from "Anonymous" know that members of "Anonymous" did not do that? Do they have a list of their members?
They hide under masks to make more difficult for the police to find in the group people who have already committed crimes! That's obvious!
Anyway, what Anons are trying to do is to spread false data on Scientology so to make the general population think that Scientologists are "bad guys" and that they don't deserve the same freedom of religion rights that the genaral population has.
Why did the German population did not do anything to protect the Jewes? Because for years the Nazi propaganda did spread lies on them making the population belive that the Jewes deserved to be punished!
Anons hope this "trick" will work again and for 50 years, with different names, have tried to destroy Scientology.
They failed. And in 100 years Scientology will still be here, and everybody will have the right to study Scientology if he will wish to.
It would not be surprising that the cult would have ordered that smashing to make believe that "anons" or whatever "haters" are dangerous people. The cult chief can't get rid of the anonymous, and is probably ready to pay to get anonymous people jailed .
Don't forget either what Hubbard said in an extremely secret document regarding attacks.
Summarized, the document asks scientologists to make false declarations before courts to get rid of valid complaints or any critic.

Critics to do anything and everything but accept responsibility. Anonymous' destructive actions are carefully hidden behind a public mask. That carefully chosen public mask hides the destructive identity of the few - whose announced intent is to destroy. Anonymous has sown seeds of destruction. This is another destructive action. Eventually that crop will result in some prison terms.

Whether Scientology's works are good or bad, it doesn't deserve destruction. Now I suppose the Church will mount 24/7 video cameras, etc. etc. That's usually what threatened organizations do.
What is the Scientology organization doing, anyway? Well, it disseminates information. It is provides a place to study. Its unique counseling programs are an alternative. But if you want it, you have to seek it out. You have to actually go after it and make effort, it won't pop into your pocket.

by Anonymous
Many commentors have noted that it could be Anonymous protestors attacking the aforementioned Scientology organisation. However, several issues arise from this: Anonymous (as in the Chanology movement) have a code of conduct which condemns all violence - there has never been an incident before, in any country; although Anons don't usually know eachother's real names, they do know the members of their local groups well enough to contact them all and make sure none of them had a part in it; Anonymous will admit to what they have done.

This wanton attack on the building will hopefully be resolved soon enough (no matter who the perpetrator was), with those involved receiving the punishment they deserve for their vandalism.
by shanonymous
Frank G says anonymous hides "under masks to make more difficult for the police to find (them)"....errrh...NO....actually anonymous wears masks to make it more difficult for the dirty tricks department of scientology (OSA) to find them. Anonymous protesters have worked VERY hard to have positive relationships with the police departments in cities around the world, now into the 6 month of global protesting.

And I laughed at Terryeo's comment about scientology: "You have to actually go after it and make effort, it won't pop into your pocket." I can't avoid the visual image of EVERY PENNY popping OUT of the victim's pockets (and bank accounts) AND POPPING INTO SCIENTOLOGY'S CLUTCHES. Sorry Terryeo Ma'am...you'll have to do better than that argument.

Their symbol came from Aleister Crowley? You know, A. Crowley used to actually work for the British secret intelligence (equivalent to FBI) called M15. How bizarre

Look to me like someone was trying to punch their way out ;P

No seriously - "broken windows" ?

Is this really news ?

A fire maybe, but a disgruntled employee that vandalizes his employment place (don't quote me on that) ... It's unworthy of news.

Nice of you to point it out before Scientology created their own news again. Unbiased reporting means merit & credibility, something most news orgs don't care about.

You'll find, as another poster has said, that Anonymous tend to own up to everything they do, IRL or online.

If Anonymous committed this atrocity (which I severely doubt - their no violence rules, etc etc), they'd announce they did so for the lulz. As they haven't done so, and local anon cells are really close-knit groups, it can safely be assumed that none of them did it and it was another dissenter showing their opposition in a needlessly violent way. I hope the perpetrator is arrested and prosecuted.

Anonymous brags about their actions - black faxes, DDoSing scientology.org, and redistributing Scientology copyright materials. All of this was widely bragged about.

So now Anonymous is quiet about this action? Denying it? Find us the bragging! Find where this was organized. Find the website, the imageboard, the flickr accounts, the vimeo of them breaking the windows.

Better yet... ask the Org for their security tapes. They installed security cameras facing outward months ago. Where are those tapes?

German Anons know that they would end up badly punished if they would get caught. Don't they still cut off hands in Germany?
by Paul W
Scientologists are maybe crazy but I do not believe they would break their own windows. This would be totally against their policies. I know, I have been part of them for 20 years.

The earlier messages from "Anonymous" were clear enough. In their 21 January 2008 "declaration" that was posted on YouTube, they were plainly calling for the complete destruction of Scientology:

“Anonymous has therefore decided that your organization should be destroyed. For the good of your followers, for the good of mankind — for our own amusement — we shall expel you from the Internet and systematically dismantle the Church of Scientology in its present form ...

The messages of violence and destruction of the Scientology organization posted by "Anonymous" on Internet have been escalating in the days, weeks and months that followed this first message. Of course, in any civilized society, such an attitude and behavior are unacceptable. Therefore "Anonymous" backpedalled and is now trying to present a more respectable image of itself, bluntly denying their earlier excesses.

I don't buy it. I am no scientologist and my or other people's opinions of Scientology is irrelevant in this context. "Anonymous" has taken on other targets before Scientology. "Anonymous" has always been a calamity. However, I am now utterly flabbergasted by the amount of hatred that "Anonymous" has been generating lately. And I am very disappointed by my countrymen who support such movement.
