Forum & Discussion: CAN CAPITALISM BE DEMOCRATIC?
Thursday, July 3, 7pm
Introducing the PSL's new book:
DEMOCRACY AND CLASS SOCIETY
The U.S. touts itself as the greatest democracy on earth -- a system "by the people, for the people." But 13.5 million people are going hungry each year and 47 million have no health insurance under this system. The victims of natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and the recent floods are unable to get real assistance. Thirty million people are denied the right to vote each election year. Why aren't we afforded the right to housing, healthcare and a job? Join us for analysis of the real workings of democracy under capitalism. Plus, pick up a copy of our new book, Democracy and Class Society, which features 121 pages of analysis and is designed to provide much needed clarity on what is and what is not at stake in the bourgeois elections.
Also: hear PSL Presidential candidate Gloria La Riva speak about workers democracy in socialist Cuba.
