The United States continues an immoral, illegal and unjust occupation of Iraq. Officially, 4101 members of our Armed Forces have been killed. Many millions of innocent Iraqis have been killed, maimed, displaced, and terrorized because of the actions of our country. At the same time, our country's financial resources are being drained so that we cannot solve the very real problems we have at home: health care, a faltering economy, lack of jobs, the increasing cost of college, and the impending destruction caused by global warming.
Neither presidential candidate of the two major parties seems committed to ending this senseless war. Therefore, Peace Fresno will sponsor a demonstration at the Radisson Hotel, the site of a John McCain fundraiser, on Monday, June 23, beginning at 11:00 am. Our message is simple: whoever the next president of the United States is, it is time to end the occupation, bring all the troops home, and turn to the real needs of Americans and the real needs of all members of the global community.
