Wednesday Defend the Oak Grove
This Wednesday a judge will decide whether or not the university can go ahead with construction plans/the destruction of the Memorial Oak Grove.
This is it folks. It is now or never to defend the Memorial oak grove.
A Judge will decide on this Wednesday whether the university can start to build on the site or not. If the university can proceed, then work, arrests of tree sitters and cutting of trees may begin immediately. The decision will be announced some time between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Please gather at 9 or whenever you can. There is a candle light vigil on Tuesday starting at 8:00 pm. Come if you can. Many people will spend the night so bring a sleeping bag and sleep over.
Come prepared Wednesday for direct action to save the grove or to support those taking action. Everyone is needed.
The police may not move in on Wednesday so if you cannot come that day then please be alert for when they do move in (if the decision is against the grove).
Call (510) 938-2109 for updates.

The university currently exploits over 40,000 animals in the name of research. A new facility is now under construction at University Avenue and Oxford Way, known as the Li Ka-Shing Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences, that will expand the existing animal facilities by 70 percent.
