ANSWER Activist Meeting
Al-Nakba - 60 Years of Palestinian Dispossession
May 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of Al-Nakba (The Catastrophe), the expulsion and dispossession of the Palestinian people to make way for the state of Israel. Both President Bush and House Speaker Pelosi traveled there to “celebrate” Israel’s 60th anniversary, while the remaining Democratic and Republican presidential candidates joined in with their “congratulations.”
Speakers will discuss and show video footage from 1948, and report on the many activities in the U.S. and other countries marking Al-Nakba, and its relationship to the situation today. Discussion will follow the presentations.
Also: Report on key propositions on the ballot in the Tuesday, June 3 election.
