Please join us for a
SILENT MEMORIAL PEACE WALK
When: Memorial Day, Monday May 26 – 11am
Where: Gather at Mission Plaza, by Holy Cross Church, in
Santa Cruz
What: A silent reflective walk for Peace* Following a short welcome & time
of reflection, we'll walk for about an hour...past the river & along Pacific Avenue
through downtown, returning to the plaza for a brief closing ceremony.**
Who: People of all beliefs, cultures, and ages who wish to
strengthen inner peace and contribute to creating a
more peaceful world.
Why: We say to our nation’s leaders that war is not the
answer. The way to peace is through cultivating peace
in our hearts, in our actions, and in the world.
What: *Bring flowers instead of slogan signs. Group-identifying signs
and banners are welcome, as are peace flags, earth flags, etc. Wear
white and/or black if possible (not required). Bring water/hat/sunscreen.
**Returning to the plaza we will unfurl a 200-foot long Iraqi Scroll
commemorating Iraqi civilian deaths, in the presence of a traveling
BPF Iraq Memorial honoring US and Coalition soldiers killed in the war.
