Latin jazz band LOS BROS to headline May 31st fundraiser
Students from St. James and SAIC schools to perform
(Friday, May 23, 2008) San Francisco – Los Bros, the Bay Area-based band known for melding the Latin and North American cultures with its unique brand of Latin jazz, will perform on Saturday, May 31st, from 8 to 10 p.m., at St. Anthony - Immaculate Conception (SAIC) School, located at 299 Precita Avenue in San Francisco.
The event will also feature music and Latin dance students from SAIC and St. James schools.
Proceeds will benefit the Dominican Schools Music Project (DSMP), a privately funded music program for seven elementary parochial schools in Northern California. Through the mentorship of New York’s Education Through Music Program, the project offers quality sequential, comprehensive, year-long music education and performance opportunities for all students – from kindergartners to 8th graders – enrolled at the DSMP school partners. Program supporters credit the music-in-schools concept for fostering enthusiasm for the arts, developing musical and leadership skills, and increasing self-confidence among youths.
A $10 per person donation is requested at the door. For reservations, call (510) 534-2743.
