No on Prop 98 Update: No on Prop 98 articles & local distribution

by Lynda Carson (tenantsrule [at] yahoo.com)
The California Association of Realtors (CAR) is funding the Proposition 98 campaign to the tune of HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of DOLLARS, in an effort to make an ever larger profit by evicting renters from a building before it has been sold to the highest bidder! The eviction for profit system is real, and the ruthless California Association of Realtors will evict the working class, the elderly, disabled, and our families with children from our communities if a profit can be made!

The California Civil Rights Battle To Save Renters
Protections & Rent Control

Heres the latest update for those involved and
concerned about beating back Proposition 98 on the
June ballot, to save tenant protections and rent
control.
Google News & Prop 98; Click here for the
latest news stories... http://tinyurl.com/59vkof

No on Prop 98 local articles;

In local Bay Area newspapers, during April & May. In
several stories that I wrote which have gone to print,
we have people telling everyone to vote No on Prop 98,
and Yes on Prop 99. So far, we have managed to get the
word out to people through a minimum of 100,000 copies
of newsprint or more locally in San Francisco,
Berkeley, Oakland and Richmond...

Special thanks to newspapers including Street Spirit,
the Bay View, and the Berkeley Daily Planet...

Across the state, we have been able to reach many
thousands more with our message, thanks to on-line
publications...

Once again, a special thanks to everyone that has been
involved in speaking out against Prop 98, and
especially to all of those that are involved in
precinct walks & phone banking efforts to defeat Prop
98...

For those of you in the East Bay, please feel free to
contact Just Cause Oakland to learn what you may do to
assist in the effort to defeat Proposition 98.

Realtors Joined In On The Attack Against Californians

We are up against the greed of the California
Association of Realtors (CAR) and the Apartment Owners
Association of California (AOA), who have contributed
hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Prop 98
campaign in their effort to end rent control and
tenant protections.

Oakland City Attorney John Russo, has had to take
action against realtors for their unlawful evictions
of Oakland renters in homeforeclosures.http://tinyurl.com/6gzjmn

Greed & contempt fuels their campaign, and they are
intent on ending rental protections not only for the
working class, but for the elderly, disabled and our families
with children throughout all of California in a massive
effort to displace Californians from their housing!

Prop 98 Attacks The Working Class

For many years those in the construction trades such
as sheet rockers, carpenters, roofers and concrete
workers have risked their lives and have toiled away in the
heat of the day to create the housing needed for our
families and communities.

In silence the working class have watched the slick
talking realtors come in and profit on their labor by
making a quick sale to the highest bidder, over what they had just built.

The realtors never get dirty, or sweaty and never risk
their lives to make their money when selling the housing being built
by the working class, while making 100 times more in the
blink of an eye than what the workers do.

Now these same greedy realtors, want the right to take
away tenant protections from the same working class who
toil their livesaway to build our communities!

In Prop 98, the realtors are demanding the right to
evict the working class from their housing so they can make a
bigger profit by selling an empty house to the highest
bidder!

Greedy realtors and their past efforts to divert
people into sub-prime home loans have already
devastated cities across the state of California, and
now with their combined efforts to financially support
Prop 98, these profiteers have joined up with Dan
Faller (CEO of AOA) and his WAR against the renters of
California!

Click on the link for a listing of all the REALTORS
who are bankrolling Prop 98 in their effort to
displace Californians from their housing, just to make
a stinking unjust and immoral profit;
http://cal-access.sos.ca.gov/Campaign/Committees/Detail.aspx?id=1296303&view=late1

If Prop 98 passes, there will be no limits to the
greed and hardship these profiteers will unleash and
impose upon the public at large throughout California,
and with our combined efforts we must stop them now,
and forever more!

Commentary: Prop. 98 Would Eliminate Rent Control and
Tenant Protections

By Lynda Carson -- Berkeley Daily Planet

Thursday, May 08

The June 2008 Ballot has a dangerous measure known as
Proposition 98 (California Property Owners and
Farmland Protection Act, or CPOFPA). If passed by the
voters, Prop. 98 would terminate rent control, tenant
protections, and would place homeowners at risk by
allowing unscrupulous property owners to challenge
existing building codes and zoning laws that may
prohibit the placing of a “pig sty” next to someone’s
home, or a “porn shop” next to a church or school.

the Hilton Hotel, where the Apartment Owner’s
Association was holding a seminar to teach landlords
how to evict tenants. AOA President Dan Faller calls
Prop 98 “war” against rent control and those who
oppose 98 “terrorists.”

Oakland – The June 3 ballot has a dangerous measure
known as Proposition 98, the California Property
Owners and Farmland Protection Act. If passed by the
voters, Prop 98 would terminate rent control and other
tenant protections and would place homeowners at risk
by allowing unscrupulous property owners to challenge
existing building codes and zoning laws.
