Organizers and leaders of The World Can’t Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime are gathering in Berkeley, CA on May 3-4 to make and further bold plans to repudiate the program still firmly in place under George Bush. We will discuss how far the Bush program has gone, the factors that may yet make it possible to drive Bush and Cheney from office, and the need for people to act independently of the politics defined and allowed by the coming election. No major campaign is making the obvious moral call for impeachment based on war crimes, spying on, and lying to the American people.
What is our responsibility, as people living in this country, to bring all this to a halt?
Participants will assess the Bush program; the disparity between the hopes people have in the presidential candidates, and the candidates’ actual political programs; and the possibility of a Bush attack on Iran in the next few months. We’ll dig into World Can’t Wait’s work against military recruiting and torture, and make concrete plans over the summer and into Fall '08 for spreading the movement among youth and students.
Can the world wait? Our movement will discuss the demands placed by history on those who have identified the Bush regime as a danger to the world which can and must be isolated, the entire program defeated, and the basis laid for a movement on a scale that can really make a huge change in this country and in the world.
Saturday 10am-5pm & Sunday 10am-3pm UC Berkeley, Morgan Hall, Room 101
Here are some of the highlights:
Saturday 1pm plenary will discuss Bush plans to attack Iran, featuring Larry Everest, author of:
Oil, Power, & Empire.
Saturday 7pm-9pm at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst Ave. (at MLK Jr. Way) highlights from the Winter Soldier Investigation of US military crimes in Iraq & Afghanistan, with Elaine Brower, military parent and member of Military Families Speak Out.
