May 1, 2008 - San Francisco/ National Call for Action
IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE NATIONAL CALL FOR ACTION FOR INTERNATIONAL WORKERS’ DAY AND THE END TO THE WAR
PEACEFUL MARCH
MAY 1st
On Thursday, May 1st 2008, thousands will rally at Dolores Park to commemorate International Workers Day and demand an end to the War in Iraq. Under the theme “Workers United Without Borders, “ immigrant rights groups, unions, faith based groups and local officials will march to Civic Center where they will meet with ILWU local 10 for a rally and festival in front of City Hall. Speakers will include Cindy Sheehan, Cynthia Mckinney, and David Bacon.
PROGRAM FOR MAY 1ST
* 12:00p.m. Volunteer Orientation and Lunch at Dolores Park
* 2:00-3:30pm Dolores Park Rally
* 3:30-4:30pm March to Civic Center
* 5:00pm-6pm Rally at Civic Center
WHY WE ARE MARCHING ON MAY 1ST
Two years after the failure of HR4437, three new anti-immigrant, racist measures have been introduced by Republicans and supported by many Democrats. These are HR4088, the SAVE ACT, HR5515, and Resolution 239.
As we see no end to the war in Iraq or Afghanistan and the economy plummets, it is crucial that immigrants integrate into the workers rights movement to unite against the war at home, in the form of the aforementioned measures, and the war abroad.
Our Demands Are:
• Stop the War at Home and Abroad
• Stop the Persecution and Repression of Immigrants
• Stop the Violation of Labor, Human and Civil Rights of All Workers
• Stop the Gentrification of Our San Francisco Neighborhoods
• Unconditional Amnesty-Papers for All
