4/30 Victory in Vietnam Day; 5/1 Labor Day-Support ILWU

by ^
April 30, 1975 was the happiest day for the first generation after WW2 and after the Holocaust. It was the day when the little people in black pajamas, the workers and peasants of Vietnam, defeated the mightiest death machine the world had seen since Nazi Germany, namely Nazi USA, so that the workers of the world literally danced in the streets, including right here in San Francisco and Berkeley. We hope to do the same for this year's milestone labor strike for peace led by the ILWU on May Day 2008.

Things can no longer go on in the old way. The lackeys of the capitalist class, the Democrat-Republicans, in the state legislatures and congress, refuse to iincrease the taxes for the rich, those who make over $200,000 a year, so that we have a minimally functioning society. Instead, they perpetrate war and fascism, increasing the war and prison-death penalty budgets at the expense of the education and social services budgets. Only the socialist (Peace & Freedom Party in California) and Green Parties call for a reversal of these priorities, and mean it.

The way out of this darkness is being led by labor, as it must be, namely the ILWU, with a political strike for peace on May Day 2008, striking at the profits of the capitalist class, the only thing that matters to these parasites. We will all be there in one way or another, physically or by wearing red, teaching our fellow workers the history of May Day (it started in this country in the 1880s in the struggle for the 8 hour day and only the anti-communist labor fakers prevent us from having May Day as our official day off honoring labor), and the like. It will take a labor general strike nationally to put an end to this bankrupt social order that perpetrates war and fascism to maxmize profits, at the expense of our lives and the earth.

Solidarity Forever!
Black, Brown, Yellow, Red and White,
Same Enemy, Same Fight,
Workers of the World, Unite!
We have nothing to lose but our chains;
WE HAVE A WORLD TO WIN!

May Day celebrated in U.S. by socialist? Sorry, sonny, it was a pagan holiday imported from England long before that. While you're beating your boney chest about a military "victory" you had nothing to do with and know less about, consider this. We all agree that the war today is as wrong as the Vie Nam war was. There were a lot of casualties on both sides and few "survived". This government invented "Homelessness". More than 60% of the homeless are veterans.

Just an aside but on the subject of history and ignorance, do you know who Norman Thomas was? Do you know what his platform for reform in the U.S. was? Or are you like most of the wet behind the ears socialists who rely on foreign sources for your belief system? Most of the young socialists I have spoken with say "No" to the first two questions. Their ignorance of American Socialism is clear.

You don't deserve to identify yourself with the older leaders of the LABOR MOVEMENT which is what will be demonstrated tomorrow. They don't identify or want to associate with you under any circumstances. For the most part they are American Socialists, Social Democrats who take ACTION to help solve problems. They take time, effort and money to support their beliefs and directly address problems like homelessness.

Labor Unions have built a lot of houses and shelters for the homeless with their own money, sweat and blood. Each and every union member who goes on strike tomorrow will lose a lot of money. Money they need to care for their own families and continue to help their communities in positive ways in the midst of a recession.

Take your red flag and go stand in front of the Russian embassy to show your solidarity with their failed government and the dead heros you worship. Stand around with your thumb up your ass, squeeze your nose and blow. You'll get more out of it than spouting your mealy mouthed ignorant "ideaology". Go back to school and get some facts to back your ideas. Study Norman Thomas and learn what American Socialism is. Study the history of the Unions in America. Grow up.

But don't try to allign yourself with Unionists. We fought some real battles against the machine. Especially here in San Francisco where the docks litterally ran with blood. I'm sure from what you say that you are not a Unionist.

Viet Nam is over. Get over it. Get down to what is real in life and do something to improve the human condition in front of you.
Tomorrow is an important and significant day for a lot of people in the world. The wars and migrants need our attention and effort. Don't get side-tracked by the past. We need to unify at a time when the military-industrial state rules OUR country.
