There will be a memorial set up outside the University Union at CSU East Bay, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd in Hayward, for Lawrence "Larry" King, a 15-year-old gender non-conforming student killed Oxnard, CA.
In observance of the National Day of Silence, the Queer/Straight Alliance will be setting up two memorials for Lawrence "Larry" King, a 15-year-old student shot and killed in Oxnard, CA in February. Larry was openly gay and gender non-conforming, and asked his killer to be his valentine just days before his death. The Q.S.A. believes all students regardless of age, race, creed, gender expression, sex, sexual preferences, should feel safe in school, at home and on the street. We are setting up this memorial in protest of the lack of support given to LGBTI/Queer and ally students all across California. The public is welcome to join us, bring flowers, candles, and cards, etc. We will have a guest book for people to sign which will be sent to the King family in Ventura County.
