Fresno Police Kill Student at Local High School
The Carrisalez family and their supporters held a press conference today to discuss the shooting of Jesse Carrisalez at Roosevelt High School by a Fresno Police Department officer. Elisa Ortega, Jesse’s sister, said “my brother shouldn’t have died. He was too young. He was a good kid that wanted to live.” A 14:43 minute video of that press conference is below.
Fresno Police Kill Student at Local High School

On Wednesday, April 17, sophomore Jesse Carrisalez was shot and killed by Fresno Police Department (FPD) officer Junus Perry at Roosevelt High School. The FPD, shortly after the incident, released information to the public that indicated officer Perry shot the student in self defense. Carrisalez was said to have hit Perry with a baseball bat and a knife was found nearby. Police Chief Jerry Dyer said that “this was a case of suicide by cop.”
The first reports of this shooting said Perry, after being hit with a baseball bat, was knocked to the ground. The magazine to his handgun fell out as he hit the ground and Perry grabbed a second gun from his ankle and shot Carrisalez in the chest. Yesterday, a pathologist’s finding raised questions about what happened. According to The Fresno Bee, Harry Bonnell who is a San Diego pathologist, said the trajectory of the bullet is not consistent with Perry’s description of the incident. Instead of an upward trajectory, as would be expected if someone was shooting from the ground up, the bullet had a slightly downward angle.
At today’s press conference, Gloria Hernandez, speaking on behalf of the Central California Criminal Justice Committee demanded a public hearing on this shooting incident. “We need a public forum, we demand that the City Council call a public forum and let the people listen, let the people talk, because sometimes the people have recommendations that are outside of the box,” Hernandez said. She also said that this incident is further evidence of why we need an Independent Police Auditor.
Ben Benavidez of the Mexican American Political Association (MAPA) said “we feel that the Fresno Unified School District let Jesse down. He was a Special Education student. Where was his support and intervention? We want answers, we will get them!”

The press conference was organized by the NAACP, MAPA, The Hmong American Political Association, and Comité No Nos Vamos.

It never ceases to amaze me that So many organizations come together to put down a Police Officer or the Fresno Police department. It seems that commonsense is no longer around. Every person has the right to defend themselves. The kid was on medication that causes Physcotic behavior. He hit an Officer with a Bat that he brought to School had a knife on Campus. And this group has the nerve to put blame on the Police Department. The facts are there. Read them understand them accept them move on. The kid di wrong got himself shot in the process it was his fault. He started the sequence of events. The Family needs to accept the facts. Its that simple. Just my opinion which is based on Common Sense.
This is very sad that a young man was killed by a FPO.
Did FUSD contact the family in any way ? Did the school nurse help the student that was shot ? Did she help the Police Officer ?
The School Nurse works for FUSD and is there to help the students.

I don't think the school nurse can be of much help when you are shot in the chest. What makes you ask if the nurse helped the cop? Do you think the nurse bypassed the kid to help the cop? In any case, most of the schools don't have a full time nurse anymore. Most of the schools only have an aide, the nurse has to cover multiple schools.
This is an open and shut atrocity, as could only be brought to you by the FPD. Non lethal force should be the only kind allowed on school grounds, yet they play this as an advertisement for carrying multiple guns. If the cop hadnt been there, this wouldnt have happened.
Im certainly curious as to the on site police staffing of high schools like Clovis West, Buchanan and all the others in our area.

The open and shut atrocity is that anyone would suggest that this officer does not have the right to defend his own life. A bat is a deadly weapon. To hit someone in the head with one like that boy did is attempted murder. Our hearts go out to this family, but it is impossible that this boy trying to murder a police officer with a bat isn't 100% responsible for the events leading up to his own death. News flash: when someone is shot bending over the shooter with a bat, the wound will not be going up. That is only common sense. When someone has already tried to kill you with a deadly weapon and they are still in a position to try it again, you respond with deadly force. That too is only common sense. It seems common sense is in short supply.
So, what you are saying that officers that are assualted with a baseball bat should only use less lethal means of arresting a person. You are very naive. How about Columbine or the other school shootings. Should officers use less lethal force when mass murdering is occurring? Kelly probably thinks that kids like that should get Saturday school. Kelly people like yourself really scare me. That young man got what he deserved. My question is how was the parenting of this child? Because generally that type of behavior starts at home. Not always but mostly. Kelly grow up please.....
Where is the evidence against the child?
Where are the medical records of the policeman who claims he was attacked?
And why do you think police get less and less respect every day?
A cop's word is not automatically true: in spite of the collusion of our corrupt court system, many have been exposed in lies, and large cities typically have 10s of millions in debt for civil suits they have lost as the result of police violence: the reason why there are no criminal prosecution is obvious.
And another thing - when an incident like this is posted on the internet, all the PIGS jump onto there City- funded computers and post morinic and abusive comments about the victims while they ridicule the cuase of justice ON THE TAXPAYER'S DIME -
remember - give generously to the FOP, becuase sometimes city funds aren't enough to depend crooked cops against citizen lawsuits.
hey cops! - always carry a spare bat, in case if you need to kill someone.

That's the whole thing- it's not the cops' job to comply with perceived suicide wishes. It's not the cops' job to decide who should live and who should die- they are supposed to diffuse the situation and, if the situation warrants it, they'd bring the person in to the station or to a place where they can get needed medical attention.
