Schwarzenegger will visit Alameda as part of the Bay Area Council's 2008 Outlook Conference, which is expected to draw about 1,000 business leaders and local elected officials.
"I definitely would like to be there," said Patricia Saunders, president of the Alameda Education Association, which represents the district's teachers. "In fact, I think there's a whole lot of people who would love to go and tell him directly what we think."
While most teachers will be in school when the governor visits, Saunders said that she expects parents will protest the cuts when Schwarzenegger speaks aboard the USS Hornet as part of the conference.
"I am sure that when he comes to town, we will be there," said Bill Schaff, president of the Board of Education.

The governor's upcoming Alameda visit comes on the heels of teachers and others gathering outside the district's offices on Central Avenue on Thursday to condemn the cuts and urge support for a parcel tax on the June ballot.
Known as Measure H, the tax calls for Alameda homeowners to pay $120 annually toward local schools and requires a two-thirds majority to pass. It would sunset in four years.

ABC: Will you comment on LBAM spraying?
Governor: It’s important we do everything we can because it can destroy our agriculture products and harm our environment. Other countries can cut off our agriculture trade. Public safety is my number one priority and there is nothing that shows this program is unsafe.
ABC: Senator Migden is proposing legislation to prevent spraying before an EIR is done. Do u have a position?
Governor: We have done all the studies in the world and nothing says it is unsafe. We wouldn't spray if it were unsafe.
ABC: You would look these people in the eye and tell them it is safe?
Governor: This is safe. The spraying is safe and there is nothing that says otherwise.
