Yet the pro-genocide posters on Indybay keep saying that the Free Tibet movement is a CIA plot.

Does anyone know the significance of the US flag with green stripes?
by Ilyan
There were comments to UKidymedia Tibet demo reports about Wales being conquered by the English, and presently being swamped by inmigrants from England, needing to take a page out of the Tibetan demonstrations over Peking Olympics and organising to wreck the London Olympics.

It went on to suggest that the Jingoism that is promoted by the Olympics, Commercialism, and drug cheating are adequate reason to bring all the Olympic Games to a full Stop.

Are US Tibet demonstrators demanding a Free Hawaii?

That's a tricky one. Sure, you could say that Westerners should get out, as the US tossed their queen in jail and basically stole the islands over a hundred years ago. But where do you draw the line? Is there a time when it's no longer an occupation? Does it depend on facts on the ground?

How about the entire US? Or, shoot, the entire Western Hemisphere? Does everyone with non-native blood have to go? Are the Americas to be entirely immigration free whereas there is mixing in just about every other spot on earth? Or is 500 years enough time that it's no longer an occupation? What about fresher occupations like Tibet and Palestine? Have the occupiers just not been there long enough to claim permanent sovereignty over the territories? Do facts on the ground, such as new settlements in the West Bank or new railroads and development in Tibet matter? Is a growing Palestinian population a factor to consider?

Just to muddy things up a little more, plenty of rightwingers still think of the American South as occupied territory (by the Yanks and their federal military bases in Georgia, Alabama, etc).
by Tricky indeed.
The question is, what would the call for the overthrowing of the US in Hawai'i, and/or for the restoration of its pre-annexation republic (or the constitutional monarchy it had before that)....

What would such a demand represent in the way of giving long-term-burnout hippies, and other countercultural and lifestyle capitalists, some sense of a cosmic reason or spiritual mission for their social sloth-- some sense that their feelings for the pain of others might be an adequate response.

With that, Hawai'ian separatists will have half of CA aboard, and they'll be on their way.
Proper protocol for displaying a foreign flag in the US is to display the US flag with it. It is strange that anyone does not know that; it is logical thinking. By the way, the US flag is the old British East India Company flag that George Washington made into the US flag. That says it all about US capitalism. For more on US oil imperialism in China, see:

which states, among other things:
"On the question of the size of the Tibetan population, the Dalai clique has spread many rumors. The most sensational was that more than 1.2 million people were killed after the peaceful liberation of Tibet. In 1953, the Tibetan local government under the Dalai Lama reported the population stood at 1 million people. If 1.2 million inhabitants had been massacred, it would have been a case of genocide and certainly the population in Tibet could not have increased to the present 2 million."
by Seeing American Flags
I was not bothered in the least by all the American flags Wednesday, just as I am not the least bit bothered at any of the immigrant rights demos to see Amercian flags waving. I know it is complex but maybe this other example will help you.
by was that so hard?
"If 1.2 million inhabitants had been massacred, it would have been a case of genocide and certainly the population in Tibet could not have increased to the present 2 million."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lhasa I'd get better stats if I had time, but lets look at wiki for a start- notice how in some parts of Tibet, the Han Chinese now constitute 35% of the population (I've actually read its up to 50% now)
The Tibetans are killed, the Han Chinese move in. Viola. Ethnic cleansing. Not fake ethnic cleansing like in Gaza, where the population has quadrupled without any change in ethnic origin, but real ethnic cleansing.
Yep. Many human rights organizatios have called it a genocide.
