Come join us to watch THE LEGACY about California's 3-Strikes Law. The movie will be followed by a brief community discussion regarding this contraversial topic. This event is FREE, but donations to the cause are welcome and appreciated.

BACKGROUND:
Over 4,000 men and women in California are currently incarcerated for LIFE for committing non-violent crimes. To address this cruel and unusual punishment, we are part of a grass roots effort to gather 500,000 signatures by the end of April in order to get a 3-Strikes Amendment on the November 2008 ballot. Please join us in this fight by: signing our petition, gathering signatures, and/or donating money.

THE LEGACY: MURDER & MEDIA, POLITICS & PRISONS (the movie we’re showing). From murders to manhunts to a win-at-all-costs political campaign, this riveting exposé presents the disturbing story behind the passage of California 's stringent "Three Strikes" law. Through candid interviews and news footage, Mike Reynolds and Marc Klaas, brothers-in-arms turned bitter opponents, and other key players including judges, legal analysts, and state officials illuminate both sides of this heated issue, revealing in stark terms how criminal justice policy is debated and promoted in today's media-saturated political climate, particularly in a state where more money is spent on building prisons than on education.
