The Santa Cruz People's Democratic Club and People Power are co-sponsoring a forum for the First and Second Santa Cruz County Supervisorial Districts. The First District covers Live Oak, Capitola, Soquel up through the summit area and a northeastern swath of Santa Cruz, and the Second District covers most of Aptos. This event, with questions from the audience, is in preparation for the June 3 Primary election.
This election is important, because with the departure of Jan Beautz, longtime First District Supervisor, the balance of votes on the Board of Supervisors could shift dramatically on issues of transportation, land use, etc.
The First District candidates are William Hay, Michael Pisenti, John Leopold, Hugh McIsaac, Carolyn Busenhart, and Betty Danner.
The Second District candidates are Ellen Pirie, Doug Deitch, and Dan Young.
Other co-sponsors include the Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender Alliance and the Grange.
Courtesy valet parking for bicycles will be provided by People Power.
