17 D-Q University Students and Elders Arrested Early This Morning
Davis, CA- Student Leaders at Deganawidah-Quetzalcoatl are preparing a demonstration at 5:30 pm tonight in front of the Yolo County Detention Facility after a series of arrests that took place today on D-Q University campus early this morning around 9:30 am. Seventeen Youth and Elders were arrested, most without being given the option of leaving.
The Board of Trustees, accompanied by the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department have attempted to remove all the students from campus and brought in a locksmith to replace all the locks. One supporter remains on campus – having climbed up a tree, with the Sheriffs waiting to remove her. Another community supporter was threatened by the police to have the CPS called on her when she begged the Sheriffs to get permission to remove her baby’s diapers and needs from the campus.
The Associated Student Body of D-Q University is sending out an urgent appeal to the community to come and show their support against this great injustice. They encourage community members and media to arrive and participate in the student’s demonstration action and vigil.
On its own, the Student Body of D-Q U is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that currently holds the only classes at D-Q University, California’s ONLY Tribal College.
The Board of Trustees has not functioned to serve its purpose towards attaining re-accreditation, holding classes on campus, hiring a new administration, and/or bringing in funding for the school in the 3 years since their inception. The board has also been canceling meetings, having not met for the last 2 months, which highlights their inability to manage, run or organize a functioning institution.
In response to this neglect, the community has united with the students to implement a new board. The current Student Leaders hold numerous programs and workshops such as the Indigenous Perma-culture Program, bio-diesel workshops and bi-weekly ceremony on campus, despite constant harassment from former board members. Students are actively searching for teachers who can further develop a new curriculum and new board members to apply for membership.
The Native and Chicano communities around Yolo and Sacramento Counties agree that the Board of Trustees are incompetent and has repeatedly failed to re-implement the educational mission of the school- a mission that seeks to unify all Indigenous people and create a harmonious relationship with the community. This embodies continued commitment towards both traditional and formal higher education for all Indigenous people.
Please support the D-Q U 3 on their court date Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 8:30 AM Yolo County Superior Court located at 725 Court Street Woodland, CA 95695 (530) 406-6700. We are requesting letters written by the community be sent to the CA Office of the Attorney General Jerry Brown in support of the Associated Body of D-Q University.
The Associated Student Body will be hosting a Pow Wow on Sunday, April 6, 2008. The community is invited to attend a Planting of the Corn Ceremony, which will happen in conjunction with the Pow Wow, to welcome in the new Spring Season and celebrate Mother Earth. Applications for enrollment into the new Board of Trustees will also be accepted on this day.

There are unconfirmed reports that tow-trucks are at DQU. Several of the people arrested today have/had cars parked at DQU. More updates should be out later tonight or tomorrow. Support is needed. La Lucha Sigue.
Of the 17 people arrested today, three people remain in jail. Apparently, the three did not have identification or willingly provide their names. We believe they will be released after their Live Scans come back from the Department of Justice. A live scan means your fingerprints and maybe more.
Everyone arrested today at D-Q have been released, as of 9:30pm.
The person who climbed a tree is back on the ground (still holding it down!) and was never arrested or even ID'd by the pigs, who cleared out completely after a few hours of waiting around.
Long live D-Q!

According to the latest and most reliable report, there were no tow trucks at D-Q U on March 31. There were yellow sheets of paper (8.5 x 11) giving a 72-hour notice to the owners of the car. The exact details of the notice on the cars are not known at this time.
This is the coverage on the KCRA.com (NBC Channel 3) website

There is also an awful video you can watch
KCRA sent a cameraman, not a reporter. I thought that a professional video cameraman worked as a part of a team with a reporter who interviews people to get to the bottom of a story. If you looked at the article linked above, you would have seen that the article does not have a byline and that is because there was no reporter present! There were two sources for the "article" by KCRA.com / NBC: 1) Michele Wallace, a spokeswoman for the Yolo County Sheriff's Department. 2) At least one board member who is given time to lie and denounce the students.
Although an Indybay volunteer displayed press credentials to multiple officers, the volunteer was repeatedly denied access to DQU both during and following the police raid. The KCRA.com Channel 3 NBC website does not allow comments. The online video is clearly biased against the students and in favor of the corrupt and lying board of trustees.
In this photo published on Indybay, you can see the KCRA.com cameraman is granted clearance to enter DQU:

An Indybay volunteer asked to be allowed onto DQU land and questioned why the KCRA cameraman was allowed to pass. A police officer blocking the front entrance said that it was not his decision which media personal were allowed onto DQU, and that the decisions were being made by the board of trustees. The corrupt board of trustees is able to use the Yolo County Sheriff's Department to not only bust down doors and arrest students while in class, but also act as private security guards. Not only that, the corrupt board of trustees gets to pick and chose the media outlets (KCRA.com / NBC cameraman and a writer from the Daily Democrat) that are allowed onto the land in the aftermath of a police raid.

Where is West coast AIM? how is it IITC has mr. means as its director who has an allegation of having a woman in their own ranks assasinated? Remember Anna Mae!
Where is Dennis? the Chancellor? Why does the longest walk have a man carrying the sacred staff who is a known "women" abuser and attepted murderer and rapist?
Why are they not helping out? are they in leagues with the defunct board? are they in cahoots with the placa?
what are they going to GET out of this?
where is the support from all the gaming tribes who said they would be using the millions for education? Will DQ-U be the new casino?
What is going on...?

It's not the students' fault, as the media reports were ridiculously implying. Their only job is to attend and to study. It sounds like they need a clean slate, because there is a whole new generation coming up.
Hi Steve, great reporting! What is the SPECTRE Group and the Obsidian Nation? Want to get involved with your cause, but don't have info on how to interact with Obsidian Nation.

Overthrow, If you still want to get involved in the Land and Leadership struggle at D-Q university, send me an e-mail and I will plug you into the network. I live in Davis. My e-mail address is thegreatlizardking [at] yahoo.com.The People's Occupation is still going on, at D-Q University. The entire (corrupr) board of trustees has been issued a temporarty restraining order by a Yolo County Superior Court judge, physically barring them from entering onto the school's property. The entire board is scheduled to appear in Woodland Superior court on February 19th, 2009, to respond to the judge's order. The board has let it be known that it is plasnning to do everything it can, to fight the restraining order. This is just part of what's going on at D-Q right now. I would be happy to tell you more. Until then, take care of yourself, but most importantly of all, Take Care of The People. And having said all that we would, I will be leaving you -for now. We are the Hope: we are this Nation; the Affiliated Obsidian Nation. OUR ENDEAVOR NEVEWR SLEEPS.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
