A Discussion and Presentation on Direct Action used to blockade military shipments coming through the Port of Olympia, as well as Tacoma and Aberdeen, WA.
In November, 2007, the Port of Olympia, WA was occupied for 18 hours straight, with all major entrances barricaded. Resistance to the militarization of our local port lasted for 10 days, stalling the war machine on countless occasions. This resulted in 66 arrests and hundreds of thousands of dollars lost by local police departments. Participants in these actions will discuss what happened and what this escalation of tactics could mean for the future of the anti-war movement.
