Francis de Winter will be giving a lecture on alternative energy sources and will highlight how the ocean will play a role in future energy sources. The lecture will cover our nation’s dependence on oil and the importance of understanding alternative technologies as only a piece of the solution, as none represent our “Silver Bullet.” Rather then emphasizing technological advancements as solutions, de Winter argues that lifestyle changes are more critical to effective change. A question and answer session will follow. The lecture is free and open to the public
The lecture series commemorates Save Our Shores’ 30 year history of raising public awareness through education about ocean health. SOS’s Ocean Lecture Series will provide the public with opportunities to better understand the threats facing our oceans as well as provide context for how individuals can begin contributing to solutions. The lecture series will run from January thru June, leading up to SOS’s 30th Anniversary celebration, Toast to the Coast in August.
