Anti-Authoritarian Call to Action on March 19th
We are calling on West Coast anti-authoritarians and anti-capitalists to join us on March 19th, and help us bring the operations of these war profiteers to a standstill. We will be meeting on March 19th at Market and Sansome in San Francisco, beginning at 7:30 AM. Actions will be ongoing throughout the day.
ANTI-AUTHORITARIAN CALL TO ACTION
MARCH 19, 2008
SAN FRANCISCO
March 19, 2008 is the fifth anniversary of the U.S. government’s brutal invasion and occupation of Iraq. Five years in which over $2.8 trillion dollars has been spent on a bloated U.S. military. Five years in which hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been killed by brutal U.S. aggression. Five years in which U.S. capitalists have raked in profits at the expense of the Iraqi people.
On this date, Direct Action to Stop the War – a decentralized, unaffiliated, and anti-authoritarian network of Bay Area activists which organized the shutdown of the San Francisco financial district on March 20, 2003 – is organizing a day of direct action against corporate war profiteers and government agencies in downtown San Francisco.
Over the past years, mass protests – organized and tightly controlled by socialist front groups – have dwindled in size, and have become exercises in passivity. We believe that the time is long overdue for a radical, anti-authoritarian anti-war movement to step up, and send a clear message to the economic and political elites that control this country: No business as usual until all U.S. troops are withdrawn from Iraq and Afghanistan!
We are calling on West Coast anti-authoritarians and anti-capitalists to join us on March 19th, and help us bring the operations of these war profiteers to a standstill. We believe that warfare is a systemic problem, and that the only way to rid the earth of this problem is to remove the structures of capitalism and authority.
We are calling on you to come to San Francisco on March 19th – whether to organize your own decentralized and independent action, or to join other anti-authoritarians in taking a stand against capitalism, authority, and endless war.
We also ask you to respect local activist communities, and to remember that the effects of your actions endure long after you’ve left town. Please act strategically, and avoid endangering those who are participating in lockdowns.
We will be meeting on March 19th at Market and Sansome in San Francisco, beginning at 7:30 AM. Actions will be ongoing throughout the day.
Join us, and help us make March 19, 2008, a day that the ruling class of this country will not soon forget!
