Who: James Gustave Speth, Co-founder, Natural Resources Defense Council

Event: James Gustave Speth has been a leader in the environmental movement for more than 30 years to discuss the failures within the political system to solve solving global environmental problems. Speth argues that no matter how hard environmentalists work, the current against which they are swimming is too swift and so in order to preserve a livable planet for future generations, the current itself must be altered; that is, American-style consumer capitalism.
