Chevron and big oil are a driving force behind wars for oil and global warming. Over a million gallons a month of occupied Iraq ’s oil is processed at Chevron Richmond Refinery. Now Chevron threatens the Bay Area with massive additional toxic pollution from expansion of it’s Richmond oil refinery to refine dirty crude oil - which is being fought by community and antiwar groups.

ANTONIA JUHASZ

Analyst with Oil Change International and the Institute for Policy Studies, organizer and author of “The Bush Agenda: Invading the World, One Economy at a Time.” “The Bush Agenda” uncovers the history and key role of U.S. corporations including Chevron, as the driving force and main beneficiary of the US Invasion and Occupation of Iraq and the polices of empire.
Juhasz is writing a new book, The Tyranny of Oil: the World’s Most Powerful Industry, and What We Must Do to Stop It (HarperCollins Publishers, September 2008).

JESSICA TOVAR

Jessica Tovar is an organizer with Communities for a Better Environment. Together with community groups from Richmond , she is fighting Chevrons new plans to expand it’s Richmond Refinery to process dirty low quality crude oil, which both threatens Richmond and the Bay Area with massive toxic pollution and goes against efforts to move towards green energy and reduce greenhouse emissions. Jessica has helped organize and train communities in urban, rural and indigenous communities throughout the Southwest.

HENRY CLARK

Dr. Clark is a legendary environmental justice leader; Executive Director of West County Toxics Coalition, lifelong Richmond resident and a veteran of the Black Panthers and the black power movement. Chevron oil company operates a refinery and other industrial facilities in Richmond , California and stores over 11 million pounds of toxic, explosive, and corrosive chemicals at this refinery, often very close to large population centers. as a result the people of Richmond and the Bay Area are subject to injuries and illnesses.
