ANSWER Activist Meeting
Help get the word out: End the War Now—Demonstrate on the 5th anniversary of the war!
Plus: an update about the Iraq War & U.S. Aggression in the Middle East
The biggest news about the war in Iraq right now is the political sparring between John McCain and Barack Obama. Yet the U.S. military barrage continues unabated. The Iraqi people survive and resist in desperate conditions. As the U.S. death toll in Iraq reaches 4,000 and Iraqi deaths surpass a million, shouldn't the war in Iraq merit its own headlines? No matter who is elected in Nov. of 2008, the occupation of Iraq and the repression of its people will continue for years to come.
March 19, 2008 will mark the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. This is five years too many. Millions of people have turned against the war and come into the streets to demand an end to the war over the last five years. The 5th anniversary will be marked by days of protest and direct action across the country… and the world.
We are asking you to get involved in the effort to build this important day of action to stop the war now. The corporate news media will not be highlighting this demonstration. Only a grassroots effort will make sure the Bay Area knows about the protests.
On Tues. Mar. 4, join us for a report and discussion on the latest developments in Iraq, threats against Iran and the significance of the elections for ending the war in Iraq. After the discussion, teams of people will poster to get word out and make alert phone calls about the demonstration.
