MEMORIAL FOR ANITA GAY
Berkeley Grandmother Slain by Berkeley Police Officer
Family and friends of Anita Gay invite the public to gather on Thursday February 21st at 6pm at the South Berkeley Community Church to celebrate her life and to share concerns about in police conduct in Berkeley. Anita Gay, a long-term Berkeley resident and beloved neighborhood grandmother, was shot dead by a Berkeley Police Department officer on February 16 at her home on Ward Street. She is survived by her six children, grandchildren, relatives and neighborhood community.
Family and community members have organized the creation of the Justice for Anita! Justice for All Campaign! to press the City Council to take action to address residents' concerns about the conduct of BPD. While many of us are shocked and angry about what happened and prepared to protest this outrage, it is time now to support the family and celebrate the woman. Please join us.
Those wishing to make donations to the family of Anita Gay will be able to do so at the memorial.
