It is said that without Ma'at there would be no existence. In the physical manifestation She is often depicted as a young woman, holding an Ankh in one hand and a scepter in the other, often see with wings on both of Her arms. Her name translated literally means "Truth". She is so much more, Ma'at is the principal of truth, order, balance and justice of which the universe is based upon. She is the platform of which the scales of justice stand upon. Without Her it is said that all would return to Chaos again!
Ma'at is said to weigh the hearts of the dead on her scale. When you passed over you would arrive at the Hall of Ma'at, where she would sit with Ammut-Devouress of the Dead at her side. The heart was placed on one side of the scale, on the other was placed Ma'at's feather. If the heart balanced with the weight of the feather the person passed into the afterlife. If it did not they were eaten by Ammut.
Come join us in this celebration of Truth and Justice. Find what Truth is within yourself, and how you stand in that truth. For the ritual please bring a blue candle in a glass jar. Please bring any symbols or images of Her for the altar. We have a feast after the ritual so if possible bring a snack to share. Please see our website for participation details at http://www.DaughtersofhteGoddess.com
Daughters of the Goddess is a Dianic womyn-only Goddess Temple dedicated to honoring Multicultural Goddesses through rituals and celebrating ceremonies of Womyn's Mysteries in the Spirit of Aloha. We generally have two rituals a month and are always looking for new womyn who feel the call of the Goddess. For more information, ritual calendar and newsletter check out our website.
