Battle of Berkeley Part 1
On Feb 12, 2 sides faced off in Berkeley. On the one side were anti-war and progressive people supporting the city council's resolution last week saying that marine recruiters are unwelcome in Berkeley. On the other side were pro-Iraq war, pro-marine reactionaries mobilized by talk radio etc. Despite all the media reports that hordes od pro-war people would be decending on Berkeley the anti-marine recruiter protesters outnumbered the reactionaries most of the day. Hundreds of Berkeley High students Berkeley High students joined the protest.

I was happy to be a part of this demonstration against the pro-war freak show. No matter what the Berkeley City Council says, we have re-energized the national debate against this invasion debacle in Iraq in general and the deceptive predatory military recruiters in particular.
I want to add that I support the troops, that is why we want them to come home ASAP. The other side, the mindless fake patriots, support the war, not the troops. Their ignorance was on full display yesterday and it looks like it will continue to be.
Patriots of the City Council and the Bay Area, keep up the awesome work. Drive out the recruiters, drive out the bush regime, drive out the pro-war anti-American GOP and their supporters.
