Help Save Patagonia’s Rivers at International Day of Action Event
Join Berkeley’s International Rivers for a multimedia presentation to learn about two of the world’s most spectacular wild rivers that are threatened by large dam construction. Right now, two powerful corporations are planning a series of five dams across Patagonia’s Baker and Pascua Rivers. If built, the dams would flood temperate rainforest and destroy habitat for the Chilean river otter and the critically endangered huemul deer, a Chilean national symbol. See images and video from one of the first ever expeditions to the remote and rugged Pascua River – organized by International Rivers – and learn about the global campaign to protect these rivers.
This event will be one of dozens around the world marking the 11th Annual International Day of Action for Rivers.
Come to a 6pm happy hour at Café Valparaíso – next door to La Peña – and meet campaigners and Pascua River expedition members. Multimedia presentation, music and discussion from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Event is FREE.
